Macmillan Coffee Morning 2021
Posted on: 27/09/2021On Friday 24th September 2021, Progress Lifeline raised an amazing £120.00 in a coffee morning for Macmillan Cancer Support. Progress Lifeline is part of Progress Housing Group who matched the amount raised, taking the total raised to £240.00.
How did we raise the money?
For the baking enthusiasts amongst us, we held a bake off competition. We were inundated with several amazing creations this year which made the judging incredibly difficult.
So we decided to have not one but TWO winners this year. Installer Lewis was awarded 'Best Cake' with his chocolate orange Guinness cake.
Whilst Emergency Home Responder Team Leader Laura was named 'most creative' baker with her caramel cake.
We also held other activities including a raffle and a ‘guess how many sprinkles Colin the caterpillar has on his back’ competition.
The winners of all these activities won a £10 shopping voucher.
How will the funds we raised benefit people whose lives have been affected by cancer?
- £52 could help run Macmillan’s Online Community forum for over an hour. Typically, that would give nearly 750 people affected by cancer both emotional and practical support
- £250 could pay for five people living with cancer to attend a health and wellbeing event, providing them with the skills to improve the management of these areas in their lives
- £335 could pay for a Macmillan grant that helps a family affected by cancer take a holiday and enjoy precious time together
- £546 could pay for a Macmillan Social Care Worker for a week, helping patients, family members and carers manage the social and practical problems of living with cancer
- £1023 could pay for a Macmillan nurse for a week, helping people living with cancer and their families receive essential medical, practical and emotional support
Thank you to everyone who got involved and supported us this year.
