Macmillan Coffee Morning 2020
Posted on: 25/09/2020On Wednesday 23rd September, Progress Lifeline raised an amazing £108 through their virtual coffee morning for Macmillan Cancer Support. Progress Lifeline is part of Progress Housing Group who matched the amount raised, taking the total to £216.
This year was a coffee morning with a difference
Nothing, not even a global pandemic, stops the annual Macmillan Coffee Morning. If cancer doesn’t stop, then neither do we.
We were challenged this year to host a coffee morning that met current government guidelines due to Covid-19. With this in mind, we hosted our event over Zoom. We also held a socially distanced coffee morning at our head office for our Alarm Response Centre team and office staff.
For the baking enthusiasts amongst us, we held a bake off competition. We also held other activities including a raffle and a ‘guess how many sprinkles Colin the caterpillar has on his back’ competition.
How will the funds raised benefit people whose lives have been affected by cancer?
- £52 could help run Macmillan’s Online Community forum for over an hour. Typically, that would give nearly 750 people affected by cancer both emotional and practical support
- £250 could pay for five people living with cancer to attend a health and wellbeing event, providing them with the skills to improve the management of these areas in their lives
- £335 could pay for a Macmillan grant that helps a family affected by cancer take a holiday and enjoy precious time together
- £546 could pay for a Macmillan Social Care Worker for a week, helping patients, family members and carers manage the social and practical problems of living with cancer
- £1023 could pay for a Macmillan nurse for a week, helping people living with cancer and their families receive essential medical, practical and emotional support
Thank you to everyone who got involved and supported us this year.
